Rebel X Okay______Fine

Rebel X Okay______Fine
1. Let’s rewind to the very first time Rebel reached out. What was your initial reaction?

Honestly, I was excited but cautious. I had seen Rebel’s work and knew the level of craftsmanship was there, so it felt like a real opportunity. At the same time, I didn’t want to rush into something. I cared a lot about making sure whatever we made actually felt like me while also playing to Rebel’s strengths, especially their enamel work. I tend to approach projects from the perspective of “if I were commissioning a custom piece from this artist, what is something only they can do?” and that usually ends up shaping everything.

2. Take us back to the very beginning of creating the Heads & Tails charm collaboration. What does this design mean to you?

The design was inspired by the ever present snake motif in antique/ancient jewelry, paired with a more modern, slightly tongue-in-cheek message on the back. It felt cohesive, classic, and a little humorous at the same time. The double-sided nature of the pendant made it feel especially wearable and unique. It ended up becoming more personal than I expected because it was the first piece I ever helped bring to life.

3. Tell us more about the design process. Did you have any expectations for how successful the drop would be?

The process was a lot more back and forth than people probably realize. Small details mattered, there was a point in the design process I was way too hung up on a the spacing between 2 letters. I didn’t have any real expectations for how it would perform. I thought it might resonate, but you never really know until it’s out in the world. The response honestly surprised me, and I’m really grateful it’s a design people keep coming back to.

4. Now let’s talk enamel. Given Rebel’s signature enamel work, it felt natural to incorporate enamel detailing into both the charm and the rings. Can you share your love for blue enamel?

Blue enamel felt like the right balance. It adds color but still reads as classic and timeless. I collect a lot of vintage and antique blue enamel pieces, so it’s something I naturally gravitate toward. It felt like a way to bring in color without making the piece feel overly bright.

5. From charms to rings, which one is your favorite, and why?

They feel like two different personalities of the same idea. The charm is more of a statement piece, something you notice immediately and can style in a lot of different ways. The rings feel more integrated into your everyday. If I had to choose, I’d probably lean toward the charms because of that versatility, but I really love how the ring brings everything into one composition. You get the full story of the snake and the text all at once.

6. For everyone who purchased the Heads & Tails charm or rings, what do you want them to feel when they wear your piece?

I want it to feel a little bit like armor, but in a quiet, personal way. A tactile piece, something you find yourself absentmindedly touching throughout the day.

7. When people visit your profile, what do you think their first impression is?

Probably that I’m very particular. Everything is considered, even when it looks casual. I don’t post a huge volume, so what’s there tends to feel intentional.

8. What do you want people to remember about the mysterious person behind your account?

That I genuinely love jewelry. I care deeply about small designers, their individual skills, and the different ways they approach making. I’m also really drawn to old objects and the idea of jewelry as something that holds meaning whether it’s being worn or not.
